The Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation (the “NLM Foundation” or “We”) is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to its website accessible at nlmfoundation.org (the “Site”).

This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit the Site and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

This policy applies to information we collect on this Site, and in email and other electronic messages between you and this Site. It does not apply to information collected by the NLM Foundation offline or through any other means, including on any other website operated by the NLM Foundation or any third party (including our affiliates). Nor does it apply to information collected by any third party, including through any application or content that may link to or be accessible from the Site.

Information We Collect About You and How We Collect It

We collect several types of information from and about users of our Site. When you register as a grant applicant on the Site, we may collect the following personal information: (i) your full name, (ii) your telephone number and/or email address, (iii) your user name and password, and (iv) answers to any security questions. We may also collect information about the website browser you are using, the pages you visit, the third-party websites from which or to which you go from our platform, or information about your internet connection or the equipment you use to access our Site.

We collect this information directly from you when you provide it to us, or automatically as you navigate through the Site. Information collected automatically may include usage details, IP addresses, and information collected through cookies.

How We Use Your Information

We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us, including any personal information, to present our Site and its contents to you; to provide you with information or services that you request from us; to fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it; in any other way we may describe when you provide the information; and for any other purpose with your consent.

Disclosure of Your Information

We may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual, without restriction.

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

If you are a registered grant applicant who has a registered account, you may review and change your information by logging into the Site and visiting your account profile page. If you have subscribed to our mailing list and your contact information changes, the easiest way to update your information is to unsubscribe from the list and re-subscribe with your correct contact information. For other issues concerning access or corrections to your information, you may contact us by e-mail at info@nlmfoundation.org. Children

Our Site is not intended for children under 16 years of age. No one under age 16 may provide any information to the Site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are under 16, do not use or provide any information on this Site or through any of its features, register on the Site, use any of the interactive or comment features of this Site, or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any screen name or user name you may use. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 16 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have certain privacy rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA Rights”). This section describes those rights and how you can exercise them with the NLM Foundation.

You can request to know what personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, and sold in the preceding 12 months. You can also request that we delete your personal information. We may not delete all of your personal information if one of the following exceptions applies:

  • Transactional: to complete a transaction for which the personal information was collected, provide a good or service requested by you, or perform a contract we have with you;
  • Security: to detect data security incidents;
  • Error Correction: to debug or repair any errors;
  • Legal: to protect against fraud or illegal activity or to comply with applicable law or a legal obligation, or exercise rights under the law, such as the right to free speech; or
  • Internal Use: to use your personal information, internally, in a lawful manner that is compatible with the context in which you provided the information (i.e. to improve our services).

To submit a request to know or a request to delete, please click here. In order to verify your identity, we will send you a verification email. In order to designate an authorized agent to act on your behalf you must provide the authorized agent with written permission to do so, and your authorized agent must submit that written proof by mail or e-mail to the address specified in this Policy (see Contact Information) so that it is received prior to the time the agent makes the request on your behalf. A request to know or a request to delete may alternatively be initiated by calling us at (781) 237-1311. If you wish to make multiple requests under this section, we recommend sending the deletion request last, as we will not be able to fulfill your other requests once we have deleted your information.

We do not and will not sell any personal information (as “sell” is defined in CCPA ). We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA Rights and, to the extent the NLM Foundation is providing goods or services, we will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide you with a lesser quality of goods or services if you exercise any of your CCPA Rights.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page. You are responsible for periodically visiting our Site and this privacy policy to check for any changes. If we materially change this policy, the new terms will apply only to (i) personal information and other information provided under a prior version of this policy by users who affirmatively consent to the new terms and (ii) personal information and other information provided after this policy has been amended. The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page.
