Inclusive Recreational Programming at Camp Shriver

Camp Shriver at UMass Boston is a national award-winning model for inclusive recreational programming hosted by the Center for Social Development and Education (CSDE) at UMass Boston. Their mission is to improve the social, emotional, and physical well-being of children of all abilities, by providing a no-cost, fully inclusive summer camp (over four weeks in July) that builds social skills and creates positive peer relationships. 50% of the campers have a disability and at least 30% of those children have autism.  In 2024, in direct response to the need for access to recreational services for children from under-served, under-funded and culturally diverse communities, Camp Shriver hopes to welcome 170 children to its free, inclusive summer program and school year program Saturday Camp.
